CSIOS Corporation announced today a new project in support of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Enterprise Security Operation Center (ESOC) Program. DHS currently operates multiple Security Operation Centers (SOCs), including the ESOC, that oversees and collects threat intelligence from the other component SOCs located in the National Capital Region and in other locations within the continental United States. DHS SOCs are responsible for ensuring that potential cyber security incidents are correctly identified, analyzed, defended, investigated, and reported.
Under this project, CSIOS will work collaboratively and cooperatively with multiple DHS SOCs and their corresponding Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to assist them in operationalizing the newly adopted Evaluator Scoring Metrics (ESM), baselining the current state of readiness, providing actionable recommendations to mature cybersecurity operations, and prepositioning DHS SOCs for a successful ESM 9.2 inspection and cyber center of excellence classification. “The ESM outlines metrics built from required cybersecurity functions and requirements defined by Executive, National, and Federal documents governing Defensive Cyberspace Operations; it provides both Department of Defense (DoD) Cybersecurity Service Providers and DHS SOCs with a tool to measure current provisioned cybersecurity services and conduct self–assessments for continuous improvement,” said Clinton Hackney, Vice President of Cyberspace Operations of CSIOS Corporation.
Mr. Hackney added, "Since the enactment of ESM v9.2, which introduces a more comprehensive maturity model and metrics designed to enhance the provision of cybersecurity services, many DHS SOCs have wrestled to translate some requirements that may appear tailored for the DoD. CSIOS is working together with DHS SMEs to take proactive measures to facilitate the transition of ESM v9.2 and more effectively and efficiently provision and sustain cybersecurity services to DHS Components."
Mr. Cesar Pie, President and CEO of CSIOS Corporation, also stated, “We are excited to support the DHS ESOC mission. Before joining CSIOS, Clint served as the Chief, DODIN Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP) Branch at the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Program Manager for the DOD General Service CSSP Program for the DISA. He is extremely well versed with the ESM; he is the perfect person to help translate these requirements into all DHS SOCs.”
